Our Wedding Photos 9.23.12
I have been putting off posting my wedding pictures on my personal blog because wordpress.com used to only let you upload one photo at a time- which with the 60+ individual files I have to post, would take me friggin forever. But guess what!? New uploader!!! So here ya go— some highlights from the day. Our wedding is supposed to be featured on Martha Stewart Weddings online soon, but I haven’t heard from them as to when it will publish. But our album design made is featured in an ad for Millers Lab professional print products…pretty sweet. All that hard work pays off eh?
Here is my write up:
Since I am a wedding photographer//stationery designer for a living, I’ve taken part of a lot more weddings than most people get to. Being the person who is actually getting married is such a different point of view- a whirlwind of emotion, everything firsthand, envisioning & executing a day that you have waited your whole life for…
Matt and I chose a September date since September’s in Boise are infamous for beautiful weather. With the help of my mother, we handmade most all of the details to resemble the look and feel of my very favorite clothing store: Anthropologie. I wanted the feel to be eclectic, fun, whimsical, nostalgic, and unlike anything else I have seen before. We made most everything out of wood, paper, and fabric: paper mache’d & painted larger-than-life poppies, table runners with hand-stitching on the outer edges, months and months of collected fabrics for details, handmade custom dresses and ties for the flower girls & ring bearers, cut log rounds for centerpieces and cake table, custom stationery details, huge pinwheels that stood 4 ft tall, refurbished furniture details with custom knobs, custom painted signs, a ceremony backdrop made of recycled window panes, a cake topper that I made from scratch…and the list goes on. My husband and I have a very unique sense of humor; we just love laughing and having inside jokes with each other, so I felt like we needed little “touches” of our weird language throughout- so I implemented touches “our humor” in our invitations, programs, signage, etc.
A year of planning all crammed into one short day, most everything made of paper…and then RAIN. Our wedding was the first rainy day in 3 months…I mention it because it still brings tears to my eyes to think of all of our friends and family that came together to put things back together before our ceremony. Everyone helped to make this day, the one we have been planning for a long time, perfect. This feeling is extended to all of the people who helped with the before-wedding details, and for all of the people who memorized and practiced a dance to surprise us with a FLASH MOB at our reception!
‘Super Day’ was a huge success!
